Roohi’s Answer

Hello Cornel,

Sociology is a fascinating major that opens up many exciting opportunities. Have you considered what draws you to sociology?

With a sociology degree, you can explore various paths, such as:

- If you love learning or teaching, consider becoming a teacher, research assistant, academic advisor, or program manager at a school or nonprofit.
- Interested in government or public policy? You might enjoy working as a public health worker or policy analyst.
- If the corporate world intrigues you, roles in human resources, marketing, or corporate social responsibility could be a great fit.
- Passionate about supporting a cause? You can manage nonprofit programs, organize events, or focus on fundraising.

Sociology equips you with valuable people skills, research abilities, and a deep understanding of society, useful in many careers.

Wishing you the best as you explore your major options!

Martha’s Answer

Hi Cornel, the field of Sociology is broad, giving you many options for a career. Here's a definition from the American Sociological Association (ASA), "It is the study of social life, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behavior. Sociologists investigate the structure of groups, organizations, and societies and how people interact within these contexts." The third link below provides more information from the ASA.

The other two links below are focused more on different types of jobs related to sociology and the job prospects and pay ranges. It seems that you could find your niche both in terms of your studies and career. It's fine if you are not sure of your niche now. You could find it by taking different courses and serving different internships to find what appeals to you.

Good luck!
