Hi Andrea,

Starting a business is a big task, and there are many ways to get started. The biggest hurled you will have is find a marketplace to publish your services to that can provide a stream of business.

The best advice I can give to starting your own business is to identity the audience for you services as narrow as possible to start, example business owners of companies with less than 20 people that sell car tires who reside in my state. If you can first figure out who would benefit the most from your skill set then you will find greater success.

As for the web development space, there are lots of different meanings behind what a website is. So, make sure you understand your skill and can clearly state the what services you are offering. Example, a website built with HTML, CSS, and Javascript, that does not need any additional software to be managed.

Alexander’s Answer

Hi, you need to start small (maybe even for free) to know how the business work. The first thing you need are the right tools for the job. Sometime ago I was managing a congress IT commission. We used http://www.artisteer.com/ for web designing. It is a really easy to use tool and will teach you basic programming stuff in the back end of the software. You may want to begin doing your own page and work from there.

Alexander recommends the following next steps:

Find the right tools
Begin doing works
Promote your business through clients or advertising
