How difficult is it for a female to be a chiropractor?
I want to become a chiropractor, but some people have told me that I'm too small to be strong enough to do adjustments on men/larger people. I'd like to know if my career choice is not going to be viable.

Being smaller, whether male or female, can pose a challenge but it is not impossible. Adjusting is not about size but positioning the patient and speed. You will have to work harder because you are smaller but you can also work smarter. As a chiropractor, you have the ability to use the table to your advantage, which you will learn about in school. There are a lot of different types of tables which give you specific advantages depending on the size of the patient, the condition, and what area of the body you are trying to adjust. Don’t let your size hinder you from becoming a chiropractor. I had several very small classmates and they are doing great in practice.
I will say, regardless of size, chiropractors do need to maintain a healthy relationship with the gym. Our profession takes a toll on your body over the years and you need to be physically fit to make it a long career.

Hello, Tessa !
Wow, being a chiropractor is such an awesome career and you should go for it ! It's one of the best career choices !
The people who told you what they said have not one ounce of understanding of what chiropractic is. You are not going to have to lift anyone, LOL ! You can do this no matter what size you are and I have seen women very successfully doing this career.
Your work will consist of manipulation to release subluxations that are blocking nerves, organs, muscles, etc. and affecting the central nervous system. Modern chiropractic techniques consist of hands on as well as using tools on patients. The person, no matter how big they are, will be laying flat on an adjustment table and you'll be able to work on babies, obese people and the elderly. They'll teach you that in Chiropractic School. You'll also learn sensitivity - being able to locate a subluxation with just your finger tips or hands, even through people's clothing. It's an amazing science. So do not give up. Explore this career more and I wish you all the best moving forward !
