How do I get good scholarships? #Fall25

What is the best way to get as much financial aid for college/university as possible to make getting through college easier than it would be without aid?

Hi Kenneth! It's great that you're looking ahead to how you'll pay for college. The best advice will depend on your grade and scholarship strategy.

My first suggestion is to look into QuestBridge National College Match if you're a low-income student. It's a detailed application (basically a whole college application in and of itself), but I was able to get a full-ride to the University of Chicago through it.

If QuestBridge isn't for you, focus on local or smaller scholarships (like the one you're doing now!) rather than ones that cover huge sums because they will often be less competitive. Look for ones based on your interests, location, or background. For example, if you live in a rural place, there are scholarships targeted to such groups of students or ones for hobbies/extracurricular activities that you are involved in. Even small amounts can add up over time.

You also have the choice to apply to large scholarships that range in the 10s of thousands. However, know that these will take much more time to apply to, and you may be competing against more people, so look out for ones that target more niche groups of students.

Good luck!
