Where can I find information on merit-based scholarships for children of parents who served in the military?

I am looking for merit-based scholarships that I can apply for that are specific to descendants of retired military veterans.

Hello Zachary,

That is a good question and I think it depends on what you mean by a descendant. If your father or mother was in the military service then you could qualify for several programs. If it was a grand parent then you could try and apply for an AMVETS scholarship as they can accept applications from grandchildren. Typically, unless the family member was a parent there aren't too many options. It's also worth noting that you could take a look into your states VA program and see if they offer any scholarships on a state level.

Hope this helps,
Zachary

The Bob Feller Act of Valor Award Foundation offers a merit-based scholarship for veterans' children, highlighting leadership, service, and community involvement.

In high school, here’s how you can boost your chances:
1. Work hard to keep your grades high.
2. Get involved in leadership roles, sports, clubs, volunteering, or community service.
3. Fill out the FAFSA as soon as it becomes available.
4. Apply for scholarships for military families and general merit scholarships.
