Hi Kaitlyn! While I am not a nurse, I work for CareerVillage.org and wanted to make sure you're aware of our free other platform: Coach. We have dedicated activities for students pursuing nursing occupations and in fact are currently running a scholarship program until Dec 12 -- it's a great opportunity to get this exact question answered by a trusted tool AND enter yourself to potentially win an awesome scholarship. The tool was built exactly for questions like this one!! Here's more information on the scholarship and how to enter/sign up: https://challenges.careervillage.org/coach-2025-nursing-scholarship-2/

Nursing is a career that offers endless opportunities and pathways. You initial education will most likely focus on hospital positions. A clinical experience in a hospital setting will give you a good foundation on which to expand your horizons.
As to outdoor opportunities camp nursing is the most obvious. You will be working independently with a primarily pediatric population. While this can be very rewarding there are drawbacks. Salaries tend to be low and opportunities are seasonal.
Other areas to explore would be public health nursing, medical sales, and visiting home health nurse. As a retired Army nurse I would be remis in not encouraging you to explore military nursing opportunities. You will find opportunities that most people don’t even no exist.
Best of luck in your career.
