How do you pick a college to commit to when you're waitlisted at your dream school?

I'm currently waitlisted at my dream school for pre-physician assistant, and I'm unsure of how to pick a school to commit to and attend prior to May 1st.

This is a good question and tough to answer. I suspect that is why you asked it. :-)
If you have the budget, I suggest visiting one or two of the schools you have been accepted to. If you haven't already done so, attend an information session and take a tour (even better, attend events for accepted students). Stay overnight with current students, if possible. Even if you have visited before, it may feel different now that you have been accepted.
If you don't have the budget or time, still try to contact current students for their impressions. The ideal would be another pre-med students, which the Admissions Office potentially could help with, or maybe an alum from your high school. Look at virtual tours and social media from the college and notice if you could picture yourself there.
Talk over the decision with adults who know you and, ideally, know something about the college. These could include family, friends, teachers, guidance counselors, etc. They could advise you and, even if not, saying your reasoning out loud could help crystallize your thinking.
In the meantime, I would also stay in touch with your dream school to let them know that you are still interested. If there are any updates to support your candidacy, such as an academic award or relevant internship or job, be sure to let them know.
Wishing you good luck!
