If you're 18, Edgar, you can look online to find a nearby spot to take a CDL test.

Hi Edgar!

Before worrying about the resume just yet, I would check with the schools you want to attend to see if you are eligible, age-wise. As near as I can tell, the requirement is 18 years old to attend the schooling. If you are, or soon will be 18, or are otherwise eligible to attend, my advice is as follows:

Use a website that provides a resume template. I like "gotresumebuilder.com."

Focus on trying to showcase your level of maturity and attention to safety. If you were in sports, especially contact sports, emphasize the learning of safety rules and complying with them. Also if you've had any jobs that are regulated, showcase your ability to learn and comply with regulations - such as if you work selling alcohol, or even in food handling. There are a lot of regulations to learn in trucking! Also list any positions of responsibility, be it in school organizations, church, or whatever.

You are trying to paint a picture of yourself as someone who is calm-headed, safety-oriented, and has the ability to learn and apply complex regulations.

The nice thing about a resume is that it is yours, to do with as you please! As long as it is neat, and has no misspelled words, you should be fine with whatever you write. But, try to use bullet points rather than complete sentences. People don't like to do a lot of reading. Keep it to one page. Write, re-write. Get a little bit of feedback, but not too much. Find someone who is brutally honest to review it!

If you have more questions, feel free to come back here. Writing the first resume can be a rather daunting experience, but, you've got this!
