How do I build my resume as a 10th grader who is interested in becoming a veterinarian?
I take honors chemistry, and I have experience with cats and dogs. I have a passion for helping animals in need. I try my best to learn more about the anatomy of dogs and cats.

Hi Janiya!
While you're still in high school I would recommend trying to get as much experience with animals as you can. You could start by reaching out to local animal shelters and veterinarians. Many shelters will have additional information about volunteering on their websites. It is likely that opportunities to volunteer would require parental permission so be sure to discuss this with you parents. Additionally, you may not be able to volunteer at some places until you are 18+ but even opportunities to shadow a vet or helping an animal shelter with events are good places to start. Building positive connections with people in the veterinary field can only help you! Veterinary medicine is an amazing field but prone to burnout so remember not to push yourself too hard! You have plenty of time to learn.
