What Major do I choose?
A question that I have when thinking about colleges is what major is actually worth it? I want to design medical equipment and that job will most likely be taken over by AI in the next few years. I just don't want to waste my time and money.

I don't see the field of design of medical equipment being taken over by AI. I see AI assisting people who are making the designs. Likely if you are doing something like mechanical engineering and combined that with something medical related, AI will be a helper but not a replacement.
If I am somehow wrong than the worst that happens is you end up with a mechanical engineering degree!
Also, AI cannot test fit equipment, make aesthetic recommendations, check user comfort, check operator comfort, or tell you exactly how to help people use the equipment. AI can do a lot of things, but it can't tell you how a patient will react when they are told "put this over your face" or "you will only be in this position for a minute".
I am not super familiar with this field so I am saying mechanical engineer because I know there is a field dedicated to product design. I'm sure whatever the field is AI will have impact, but not delete the design engineering jobs.

You're thinking ahead, and that's good. But I don't think you should allow fear to derail your dream. There will always be a need for talented, educated people to input information that enables design to be improved as well as to actually set- up, maintain and
operate medical equipment. There are biomedical engineers and various technicians that do those very things. I don't believe you'd be wasting your time or money. But if you're truly concerned, perhaps you could focus on more of an operator of equipment...lab, interventional radiology, or something along those lines.
