What should I do when I graduate college?
I want to know if I should immediately start building my business once I get out of college, or if I should wait and just work to make money before I start my business. #Spring26

Hi Glorianne. In my opinion, after finishing college, many people feel confused about what to do with their lives. From my experience, it’s important to think about what you truly want. Sometimes, you might not know what to do next. If you are unsure whether you want to start working, I recommend trying new things or traveling, and exploring different opportunities, because this can help you clarity and understand better your mindset.

Honestly… you don’t need to have everything figured out after you graduate. No one really does.
What I’d tell you is this: Go out and live a little. Travel if you can, meet new people, try things you’ve never done before. That’s how you start understanding the world and yourself.
Say yes more often than no. Yes, to opportunities, yes to helping people, yes to things that feel a bit uncomfortable. Those “random” yes moments end up changing your life. If you ever think about starting a business, just try it. Don’t wait until you feel “ready,” because you never will. Start small, test ideas, learn as you go. Even if it doesn’t work out, you’ll gain experience that’s worth way more than playing it safe.
Also, read a lot, stay close to art, music, and nature… those things keep you creative and grounded.
And please don’t be afraid to mess up. You will make mistakes, and that’s part of it. Life isn’t a straight path—it’s a roller coaster, and that’s okay.
Most important: get to know yourself and what you want, not what others expect.
You’re not behind, you’re just getting started .

I hope all is well! This is a good question! When you graduate college, one of the biggest decisions can be whether to start a business right away or work first to build experience and income. Starting a business immediately can sound exciting, but can be risky based on the product or service being provided. Some people benefit from getting a job first because it gives steady income, structure, and exposure to how businesses are run on a daily basis.
Working first also doesn’t stop you from becoming an entrepreneur, as it can actually help you prepare for it. You can learn valuable skills, build a network and save money so you are in a stronger position later on. At the same time, you can explore business ideas on the side and see what actually works before fully committing. No matter what path you choose, there are always many opportunities for success and with much determination and hard work you will be able to achieve your goals!

This sounds like I am saying "take a vacation" right when you need to make money and get to work but I am not. Go to places that will allow you to make friends and keep a presence in their lives. This can be something like following college friends home for a week or two and seeing where they live and what life is like where they grew up. Go places where there is an event or convention for professionals. Volunteer for organizations that will afford you to live in an area for a little while. Be creative and think of how you can get to different places. When you are there meet people, make a presence, and keep those relationships because they will help you later on.
Then work on your nine to five.

This is very very tricky position where all individuals have a confusion. The best part is to first decide what is your goal in your professional career, is there something you are targetting or you want to just focus on only getting job. My suggestion would be to have a post graduation where in you will get to learn things in more matured way rather than only having a degree. Take a break and think what best would you will be able to try.
Do SWOT analysis of your's and find a better route.
