Why do people say in order to succeed in life you have to get a degree in college?
Do we really need college to become successful. I’m genuinely interested because why give all this money to not become successful. Then a person who does not go becomes successful and not in debut.

Depends on your definition of "successful".
I will say that having a degree has lost its value quite a bit compared to before. Most of the things that are taught in classes you can basically find online and using A.I. The only value that I personally see a degree having is one of two things.
A job is requiring a person to have a degree of a certain type and level.
The degree is specialized and requires a very specific person with specific qualifications and degree to do.
Other than these two things I mentioned above, the value of the degree has dropped quite a bit. I have seen people with no degree get very good jobs compared to me, a person with a degree.
I went to college but couldn't find a career from the degree I went to school for. I bounced a lot around jobs and now I am on a career path where I am somewhat satisfied in this bad job market.
The last thing I will say about this, is that sometimes a person just needs to be lucky to land a good job and career path. With so many people in the job market nowadays, it is very VERY hard to get a good job. So luck is major factor in getting a job as well.
