If you're a student planning to study math and want to become a data scientist, it's a great idea to focus on both learning and hands-on experience in college. Besides taking math classes, try to learn programming (especially Python), statistics, and tools like SQL. These are important for many beginner data jobs.

It's also helpful to apply what you learn through real-world projects, internships, or research. Building a portfolio that shows your skills in analyzing data, creating models, or visualizing insights can be just as important as your classes. Internships as a data analyst can be a great way to start your career.

After you graduate, many students start as data analysts or junior data scientists and then move into more advanced roles. Keeping your skills sharp, getting practical experience, and understanding how data is used in real-world situations will help you succeed in this career.

What really helped me in college was looking for internships. Check online job boards and see if your college offers any internship programs. Internships show employers that you have real-world experience and help you make new connections which can be extremely valuable when finding your first job out of college.

It's not a bad idea to supplement your studies after university. In my case I did that and it helped me improve my discipline, to have an extra income for my things and not depend on your parents or other people many times. Gain experience and see how the market moves, I would recommend it.
