The biggest academic shift from high school to university isn’t the material—it’s the move from a supported environment to one that expects independence. In high school, reminders and structure are built in; at university, you’re often given a syllabus once and expected to track deadlines, exams, and long‑term assignments on your own. For me, managing time and planning weeks or months ahead was the biggest adjustment. The good news is that many of the same skills still apply—you just need to use them more intentionally. Strengthening executive functioning skills like organization, prioritization and self‑monitoring will set you up to handle the increased workload with confidence. Best of luck!
