Going to college is a good idea....a basic degree will certainly help you go further in your chosen field.

Get a bachelors degree first as many jobs in the science fields have that as a baseline. Supplement your degree with plenty of internships or volunteer opportunities in the marine biology field. Sometimes you may be able to move up the ladder in an organization without necessarily going back to school if you have the experience and knowledge.
