David’s Answer

Math is everywhere--in business, computers, science, you name it!

I'm an actuary, which involves plenty of math, but really about handling and interpreting numbers, not literally writing calculus formulas or something...

Other math-heavy jobs:
engineer--mechanical! electrical! civil! environmental! computer!...
scientist--lots of measurement and statistics
business or financial analyst--money is numbers!
accountant--numbers numbers numbers!

Hi Marla,

All kinds of careers use math in one or another. Doctors (including obstetricians) use math to prescribe dosages of medications for their patients. There is also quite a bit of current work in the field of data driven diagnosis, where doctors gather all kinds of data from people all over the world with different diseases and try to leverage that vast amount of information to diagnose current patients. Here is one such company. There are all sorts of math related fields, you might check out this question to get a feel for some of them. Let me know if you have other questions!
