It's great that you're thinking about your future. As a freshman, asking these questions puts you ahead of most players. To make it to the MLB, there's no single "perfect" college in Ohio. Schools like Ohio State, Kent State, Cincinnati, and Ohio University have strong baseball programs and have produced pro players. However, the MLB drafts players based on skill, growth, consistency, and hard work, not just the school's name.

The key is to find a program, whether big or small, where you can develop, receive good coaching, and get plenty of playing time. Many MLB players come from D2, D3, and JUCO programs because they found the right environment and worked hard every day. Focus on improving your strength, speed, baseball IQ, and consistency to create your path.

Having a mentor, like a coach, trainer, or older player, can really help. They can guide you, explain the process, and push you in the right direction. Mentors are valuable because they've been where you want to go.

Don't worry about picking the "perfect" college now. As a freshman, focus on developing, staying coachable, working hard, and finding places where you can grow. If you do this, opportunities will come.

Doha’s Answer

As a freshman, don't focus solely on finding the best college for MLB to notice you. First, identify your priorities and what matters most to you, such as location, favorite team, the baseball program, playing opportunities, and team culture. Once you have those priorities clearly defined and ranked, you can start evaluating colleges more effectively. Without establishing your priorities first, you may end up putting effort into the wrong areas or choosing something isn't the best fit for you.
