Based on my experience, I would recommend doing some extracurricular activities. These can improve your knowledge in many fields. Furthermore, it is likely that you can build a network through the volunteering activities or courses that you take. This can strengthen your CV when applying for a job or even when applying to a university.
Another thing I would recommend is participating in activities related to the field that you are interested in.

Gaining experience in the veterinary field is as crucial as doing well in your classes for veterinary school. Contact local vet clinics to see if you can shadow or volunteer. While there, ask questions politely and at the right times, and try to be involved in the cases as much as you can. Check back with the staff to find out what happened with the patients you saw.
During school breaks and summers, spend more time at the clinic and ask about possible job opportunities. If you are interested in large-animal medicine, contact a local mobile large-animal vet for shadowing opportunities.
The aim is to get valuable experience in the veterinary field, so when you apply to vet school, you can show that you understand the profession and have actively explored it.
