Should I retake my ACT if my score was a 31?

Don't want to do worse, always want to do better. I do not want to get stuck in a loop getting worse scores and never getting a 31 again. #pleasehelp

Hi! Congrats on getting a 31, that's great! From my experience, getting a lower score doesn't negatively affect you. Colleges tend to look at your higher score if that's what you're concerned about.

Mitchell’s Answer

Hi Cian,

From my research, the ACT scores range from 1-36, and the average score is 20.8, so in my opinion, a score of 31 is pretty good! If you believe you think you can achieve a score higher than 31, then it might be work re-taking, otherwise it might be best to stick with your current score.

It depends...what is your goal? A particular school? A particular major? Scholarships? A 31 is a good score!

Hi Cian,

A 31 looks great as it is! I don't believe you have to re-take the test, but if you want to give it another try, go for it. Any college you apply to will take your highest score. :)

I would say not to worry about it because it is a pretty great score.

Hope this helps.
