John’s Answer

It's hard to give an exact answer for a question like this. There are so many factors like the current job market, country/city you live in, and the exact medical specialty you'd be working in. I would suggest using a site like Glassdoor (https://www.glassdoor.com/index.htm). Sites like Glassdoor are basically an anonymous form of social media for professionals to discuss salaries and the workplace environment. Talking to someone who works as a CMA or doing a job shadow would also be a good way to get more information.

John recommends the following next steps:

Visit Glassdoor! (https://www.glassdoor.com/index.htm)
Search for your desired job; in this case, "CMA".
Read about other CMA's experiences and see salary ranges.

Chris’s Answer

Hi Anastasia,

According to the American Association of Medical Assistants, the average salary of a full-time Medical Assistant holding a CMA was $17.23 per hour or $32,727 annually in 2018.

I found a great resource that breaks these numbers down by region and also provides some information on benefit packages that CMAs often receive from their employer. Check it out!
