A welder will typically travel a lot as you have to go from job site to job site. It will depend on if you are a contract worker (wherein you could stay more local) or employed staff of a welding company (where you will go to where the business has contracted a building project). It also depends on what type of projects you will be working on. A welder at a body shop will stay local, whereas a welder on building projects will travel to where the buildings are being put up.
