How many hours do you work in a week?
I’m a senior student in San Antonio, Tx. I’m interested in working in the medical field i’m undecided on a specific career but i would prefer to work with animals. I’m very corporative and work well with others and I would like to work with a close team. #animals field #career #medicine

I'm a clinical general practice veterinarian and I work an average of 35 hrs/week. Some weeks I have late emergencies that require staying behind a little longer so even though the average is 35 hrs/week it can be 38-40 hrs some weeks.

One of the BEST things bout the veterinary field is the variety! You could end up working specific shifts (although it is not unheard of to have paperwork or checking on a patient one more time extend past those shifts) or you could be on-call for some or all of each week. Or you could actually work in research or public health, where your efforts might benefit animals AND humans!
You really can find many options to fit your aspirations.
Shadow/volunteer/apply for a job at various veterinary practices.
Check with the San Antonio public heath department or state/county veterinarian - does their job interest you?
Is there a shelter or wildlife rehab centre where you could volunteer?
