Michael’s Answer

You can be a Physical Therapist or PTA in the military. The only branch that you can't be employed as a PT/PTA is the Marine Corps and that's only because they rely on the Navy for all of their medical care. Being in PT in the military, you have opportunities to be exposed to things that civilians will never see. Caveat -- You have to seek those types of duties out yourself. Initially, you'll just perform the same job as a PT/PTA in the same setting (gym, clinic, or gym inside a clinic) and it's about as close to a civilian job in the military as you can get. Anyway...most people have no idea that it's a job in the military.

There are many different aspects of PT that people are not aware of. We have PTs (Physical Therapist) and PTAs (Physical Therapist Assistants) in pediatric clinics, women's health, bladder control, traumatic brain injury clinics, research and development, clinic managers and owners, CEOs in hospitals and so much more. There are a multitude of certifications open to therapist as well to help expand your knowledge and career.
