Prashanthi’s Answer

Hi Siva,

Firstly great to hear that you are interested in coding from young. The current trend in Industry to have a pro-active approach to solving problems than re-active approach and for which having coding as the base is a mandate skill. And your interest in on the right track.

Look up what are the top 10 programming languages and pick any and start researching online. Programming/Coding requires logical thinking along with mathematical skills and from this list you can select any of the language or start from Java, C+, C++ and join forums related to the language/code you want to learn and this is always a self learning at this point. Once you finish your year 1 and year 2 of college, then you can go and pursue bachelors in software programming.

Hope this helps Siva, and good luck.

Bhasker’s Answer

It is wonderful that you want to learn software coding and become a software engineer. This is certainly a field that has and will continue to have lots of exciting prospects for learning and growth. One of the ways to become a software engineer is to get a degree in Computer Science or Information technology or computer applications. For applying to a college to study these disciplines one must first of all be interested in and study Maths as well as Physics and Chemistry (so called PCM subjects) till 12th standard. Meanwhile, in many schools, computers is taught as a subject in 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th standards. As part of the computer subject you will learn about programming and learn the basics of coding in a language such as Java. If your school/PUC college does not offer computers as a subject then you can enroll for a programming class outside school or if you have access to a computer you can learn programming on your own. Based on the above if you can give me more details I would be very happy to provide further inputs and guidance

Ashley’s Answer

Hello! Software engineering is a great job! I have been a software engineer for many years and enjoy the problem solving aspect of the job. It is also a profession where you can teach yourself. In other words, it does not require a lot of standard schooling.

Start by focusing on learning one language such as Java or Javascript.

Best of luck!
