Donte’s Answer

Hello Raneil,

I recently wanted to learn how to bake as well. I always enjoyed my Grandmothers treats and thought it would be cool to try them myself.

Below I’m going to list a few steps that can possibly help you with Baking.

Donte recommends the following next steps:

1. Ask your family members for assistance. A lot of times family members have family recipes memorized and they can help you with them.
2. Look up recipes online. A lot of websites offer free recipes for baking goods.
3. My favorite resource while learning how to bake was YouTube. This allows you to not only the ability to listen but to also watch as someone does it. You can also play it back as many times necessary.
Thank you comment icon Thank you so much for this. Raneil

Hi Raneil,

Find bakeries and catering companies where you can ask questions. Some restaurant may bake their own breads and pastries. See if they have any job opportunities or ask them for advice or job visit. You can also search online for recipes and videos to learn different techniques. Offer to bake for family, friends, and neighbors. I know a few people that bake cakes for special occasions and there is a cheesecake factory nearby that would offer tours.

Good luck and keep learning.

David’s Answer

There is really no formal way to become a bakery, the choices you have a self-establish or a short culinary schooling. Although there are no formal education requirements to become a baker, some candidates attend a technical or culinary school. Programs generally last from 1 to 2 years and cover nutrition, food safety, and basic math. To enter these programs, candidates may be required to have a high school diploma or equivalent, Some just self-educate and self-establish their own bakery and become successful from there and on.

Brittany’s Answer

Hi Raneil,

Great question, baking is also one of my passions! Although I'm not a baker, there are many different ways to get into this field. You can start working in a local bake shop to get hands on experience, go to a culinary college, or even start your own bakery!

With all the different avenues you can pursue, you can find additional information by researching online.

Hope this helps!
