What are some good career choices if I want to study about the environment and how to make it better?

Because I am indecisive on whether my intended major should be environmental science or environmental engineering. I would just like to go into a field where I would be finding ways to make our environment better and lower our carbon footprint. Also I would like a major that would allow me to be able to work in different places not just one in order to be capable of obtaining a job which relates to my major. #engineer #scientist

I think environmental engineering would be the better choice if you want to travel to the site and work on projects that involve getting your hands really dirty :)

Environmental science might involve more time in the lab and running tests as well as publishing papers. I think its a much more heavy research focus (but I could be wrong). I would look online to see what the day in a life of each is like. Good luck!

Hi Wendy,

Based on your interests, you would want to be an Environmental Engineer. See below for some job description I found online.

Environmental scientists are more focused on testing samples in order to identify areas that are polluted or are at risk of becoming contaminated.

Environmental engineers typically focus on developing community systems and infrastructure and may work with urban and regional planners to help design ways to dispose of waste or treat water that are more environmentally friendly.

Hope this helps! Goodluck!
