Is being a kindergarten teacher a good job?

I'm in 8th grade. I have a class called career and technology. My teacher is having us do a project by asking questions about the careers we want to do when we get older. #students #career #teaching #k-12-education #teacher

A Kindergarten teacher is a very rewarding career. However, you have to be on your feet most of the day, have lots of energy, and have lots and lots of patience. Most K students are self-centered and they like lots of praise and little rewards like stickers or special jobs such as passing out papers, etc. Also if you like to sing and do finger plays that is helpful. K teachers need to make learning fun and their attention span is about 15-20 minutes so make your lessons short. Gail 😊👍

I think that being a Kindergarten teacher is a great job. You get to be a part of building the foundations of young children. You get to help students learn a lot and help prepare them for the rest of their schooling. It can also be fun being a Kindergarten teacher, and being with your students in the classroom will keep you entertained.

Hi Sydnee!

To be a kindergarten teacher, you must really enjoy working with kids and have a lot of patience! Since they are at an introductory grade level, everything is new to them. Kids are great to be around but everyone has their moments and it may not always be sunshine and rainbows. A teacher must be patient, caring, and understanding in order to create a fantastic classroom environment for everyone! All in all, it is of course a great job, but it is up to you to see what grade areas you would like to teach in and what suits you the best! I hope this answer helps!!

Great question Sydnee, and what a fun project. I wish I would have done that class project in school.

I personally think being a Kindergarten teacher is a great job! I think about my own Kindergarten teacher and I still remember her name and her soft demeanor. Most kids will potentially not have been in school prior to Kindergarten and their teacher will be able to set the foundation for their ongoing learning. In Kindergarten you learn how to listen, follow directions, and in general work in a classroom environment.

I would highly recommend connecting with a Kindergarten teacher near you and asking pros and cons to their career. You could also ask to shadow the classroom or volunteer to help. I think it is great way to find out if it is something you would want to do long term.

Good luck on your project!
