Getting into a trade field such as an electrician is a great idea! In addition to what Thomas said, you have the opportunity to join and union which will usually offer you great benefits and pension. You would also have a lot of flexibility with that career path. You could work for a large company or open your own business. The return on investment for this career is very high!

You get to work with your hands and help to fix things. You do not have to sit in an office all day, and you have some flexibility with your hours and schedule. There is a high demand for qualified electricians, so you have excellent job security.
