It depends on the university. I only needed four years to get my K-6 teaching certificate, but a colleague's program at another university only offered Masters in Elementary Ed, so she needed another year to complete her program.

Hi Emily!

Usually it takes about 4 years to get a bachelor’s degree in education. I am currently enrolled as an education major myself! If you wanted to continue to pursue an education past this, you can usually get a master’s degree in about 2 years and a doctorate in about 3. I hope this answer helps!!

Hello!
As a general statement you will need about four years of college in order to become a teacher. You will also have some tests that you will need to pass in order to become a teacher, and this will vary state to state. Then you will also need to student teach for about 15 weeks, this will give you the chance to be in the classroom with a teacher and you will get to see how their day is. You will also take over the class for a few weeks and you will get to run the room how you think you would as a classroom teacher.
