Lyndsay’s Answer

Do you have any training or experience in the field? What are the requirements where you live to become a teacher? There are always job opportunities for GREAT teachers. I recommend finding a niche in the field, for example I really enjoy working with the students who have behavior problems because I'm really great at connecting with them, What are your strengths? What sets you apart from your peers?

Terra’s Answer

There is always a demand for educated, trained, passionate teachers with good interpersonal skills here in the United States. If you are at the beginning of an education career or just now deciding to go into the field, ask yourself 1) Why am I interested in teaching? 2) What aspect of education am I interested in? Primary? Elementary? Secondary? 3) What are the first steps I need to take to start on my career path?

After you figure out what you specifically want to do in education, then you can do the the research. If you’re wanting to work in the United States and aren’t here yet, of course you’ll need to take the steps to come here. If you are already here or have just arrived, or even if you’ve been here a while, I would highly recommend trying to get a job as a teacher’sassistant. Do you speak English or another language like French or Spanish? Speaking another language that a large group in your area speaks is always a valuable skill to have. Working as an assistant would allow you to see firsthand whether it’s a job you would like to do while getting paid to do it.
Best of luck!!!
