Taylor’s Answer

1. Believe in yourself and your dream of becoming a singer. Having the confidence is key in order to be successful!
2. Do everything you can to improve your singing. Take a class in school, get a singing coach or instructor. Get as much feedback as possible.
3. Practice and sing as much as possible. Every hour you practice, you get better and better!
4. Build your portfolio of songs that show off your voice. This way for auditions you have a list of songs you can choose from.
5. Build your network - reach out to those that can help you. Ask for advice on how to get a start.

Good luck!

Alyssa’s Answer

Hi there, Sam!

I am actually a singer/ songwriter/ musician based in Music City (Nashville, TN) :) A passion is something that can't be ignored, and is truly a treasure to find in the first place. I'm so happy that you have found such a love for the arts.

I will be transparent as possible with you. Making a career out of music is not easy, and having talent is a bare necessity. The hunger and drive to be in music is the most vital thing you can possess. Believing in yourself is SO essential.

Aside from the emotional necessities, you need to really put yourself/ your talent out there. There's no way to grow your career as an artist/ singer and no way to improve/ get comfortable in front of an audience without getting the proper experience. Do livestream shows/ performances! Post cover videos on Youtube and Tik Tok!

And of COURSE... you need to expand your talent and perfect your craft. Do a vocal warm-up routine DAILY!!! Keep your voice exercised, and challenge yourself with the songs you practice singing. For example, for female voices, practicing to be able to sing a Celine Dion or Whitney Houston song will help your vocal ability a ton.

I hope you continue to expand your passion/ talent, Best of luck with the continuation of your music career, and most importantly, keep loving what you love to do! Never let that go!
