In a field such as carpentry you may hear go to college, get your degree, etc. There are a few other things to consider -

1st - Does carpentry make you happy? If the simple answer is yes, look into areas you can tie into carpentry. Examples include facilities / property management, construction, program management, residential remodels, etc.
2nd - Are you willing to work hard and are committed to succeeding in a given field? Assuming you answered the top 2 questions, yes, the possibilities are endless.

I get it, you like hands-on work. Keep at it.

But I do want to let you know, you can mix carpentry with technology hence your skill will evolve.

3D printing houses is already going to be the next renewable and go-to for future buildings. Thus the labor cost would be significantly reduced due to machines able to print houses in matter of hours compared to days saving on operations.

I would look into how you can be part of a new housing revolution with 3D house printing.
