Husna’s Answer

Construction workers do not need higher education. However, they will need certificates to handle and operate heavy machinery and hazardous materials (OSHA and the National Association of Safety Professionals Certificate are a couple of examples). Additionally, you should be physically equipped to carry large loads (at least 50lbs) and stand for long periods of time under various weather conditions.

Husna recommends the following next steps:

Earn your high school diploma or GED
Apply for construction positions or apprenticeships
During your job search, go ahead and sign up for an OSHA certification course so you have a competitive edge in the applicant arena
