Computer Hardware Engineer - Individual who work on design and build computer system require skill in softwares (C, C++, Verilog), electronics and should be good at microchips, processor and circuit boards.
Also most computer hardware engineer holds a bachelor degree in hardware engineering or computer science.
So it is important to stand out and should be selected in this filed should have above education.
There are some vocational courses available on top of Bachelor degree and also one should focus into Internship to work with professional to gain more knowledge and experience.
Computer support engineer - in this field one should have good knowledge on different component and peripherals. However, this role doesn’t require a knowledge on designing and developing computer system.
Once should have understanding of different component of computer system will be good and successful in moving ladder faster.
If individual is looking into the technical role and excel in technical field can get into system engineering or Networking based on your interest. And work on getting technical expertise and start focusing on solution architect and enterprise architect for systems or network engineering.
To stand out in this field Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant degree plus you should focus on some good industry certification available which covers from Associate to Expert Level certification.
Computer Software Engineer – in this field one uses the Programing language and knowledge of engineering principle to build software products. Some of the software engineer also focus on software testing.
In this field, one should have good knowledge on different programing language and having bachelor degree in computer science and information technology is important.

Computers engineers do not just create website there are other areas of expertise too.
I would say that everything and anything you do with the computer can be associated with a computer science engineer .
From creating website , making the applications that you use on the computer for various reasons is done by a computer engineer.
For example creating the browser, making other soft wares that you use, making games all can be done by a computer engineer.
Because a computer engineers learn not just how the computer works but also learn the various languages that are used to create the applications and they are thought how to fix them too. So if you can think of any profession that is associated to a computer or is done with a computer can be done by a computer engineer.
Me being a computer engineer i know what can a computer engineer do , he can make websites like Facebook , YouTube, apps that you use in your mobile both IOS and Android platforms , make games like Halo , GTA , make software's like ms office and adobe software's.
These are just a small example.
Some of the famous firms that hire a computer engineer are Google, Dell, Microsoft , Oracle and the list goes.
you can just google and check the software companies in us and I'm sure that you will get 2-3 full list.
So i would say that computer engineering is a vast field of expertise is unlimited just like the connections of nerves and neurons in our brain and once you start to go swim through the huge ocean of opportunities , it will be like a never ending entity like the space .

Computer hardware engineers "research, design, develop and test computer systems and components such as processors, circuit boards, memory devices, networks and routers," according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Computer hardware includes:
microprocessors;
memory chips: random-access memory (RAM), read-only memory (ROM) and nonvolatile rewritable flash memory;
data storage devices: hard disks, solid-state drives and optical drives;
input devices: keyboards, mice, joysticks and gaming controllers, cameras, microphones, scanners, touch screens and remote sensors;
output devices: printers, monitors, audio devices and remote controls; and
networking components: adapters, modems, switches and routers.
A career in computer engineering is a broad field and offers several alternative career paths. Those interested in working with engineers and developers to create the code for software programs and systems should consider a career in computer programming. After reviewing plans and operational diagrams from software developers, programmers use specialized tools and programming languages to produce the finished product. They also analyze and test existing products to identify and repair errors.
Most entering the computer programming profession earn a bachelor's degree in a computer science field. However, knowledge of programming languages and an associate degree may be sufficient for some employers.
