Dr. Ray’s Answer

Dear Yajaira,

My own experiences in finding a job may not be very relevant to your situation, since I graduated in 1972, when dinosaurs still roamed the earth and society was very different. However I have a few comments.

Unfortunately almost any job in the field of psychology requires either a masters or Ph.D. degree. Psychology is a very popular major so there are lots of people graduating and looking for jobs. The good news is that the U.S. population is growing, so there are more people needing services. Many graduating students hear about jobs from their professors, and most universities have placement services to help people find jobs. I also know that many jobs are now listed on the internet sites such as monster.com and careerbuilder. Several recent graduates I know took up to six months to find a job they liked but all of them did so.

I hope this information is helpful.
