Be confident. If this is something that you are passionate about, just go for it. Have faith and believe in it. Also, get yourself expose into the field, e.g. do volunteer works related to the field, get an internship and enroll in programs that will give you more exposure and will also let you gain new experience. It's good to also have a mentor who you trust and respect. He and she will be able to give you some advice and guidance.
Hope this helps. All the best !

Hi Aaliyah,

It's completely normal to feel this way and ok to feel nervous! It's all new territory and a complete unknown; however, you are much more prepared that you think and very resilient. I would say always follow your passions and your passions will lead you to success. Use your community around you for advice and support, and never stop asking questions! I always say that my curiosity is my north star and it never leads me astray!

The first step is knowing your goals and then you can make a plan to reach them! I will say some of the best career advice that I have received is that your career is more like a jungle gym, rather than a ladder. Meaning, you may have to go down a few different paths before you reach your goal. It may not be a straight line to your goals. Just remember that is completely normal and to keep moving forward.

Best,

Brittany

Hi Aaliyah!

I know how you feel, sometimes when we want something so badly we become afraid because we don't want to be potentially disappointed. It's scary to go after your goals but when you think about the passion and love you have to change the lives of children through education does that nervous feeling you may have diminish a little? I'm personally passionate about psychology and marketing and I try to bring both of those interests to work everyday through the individuals I'm able to meet and work with and by bring marketing activations to life. When you're truly doing the thing you love it never fully feels like work, of course you will have days where things get stressful but when you sit back and just reflect on where you are in life that leap of faith you took to pursue your passion and dreams makes it all worth it.

Take your time with your decision and move at the pace that works for you. Education is something that will always be needed so when you're ready, go for it and hold on to the reason it brings you joy. Best wishes to you!

Lucie’s Answer

You have answered your question in your question! The key to success, in my opinion, is to be passionate by what you do. If you are passionate you will be motivated and have fun!

In order to succeed, you also need determination to get a degree for example and get connected to people that can help you get closer to the field you want to get into. I think you should consider the below steps:
#1 Determine the education you need to complete in order to become an early childhood education teacher.
#2 Get some experience: whether through an internship, or just through local meetups and other groups.
#3 Activate and expand your network. Talk to people around you, to friends and family and then expand to meetups, volunteering, groups in order to meet other teachers that can help you understand what success looks like in this role.

Success is not a direct path, and if you are passionate about your field, you will be one step closer in the right direction!

I hope this helps,
Cheers
