What's a good way to prepare to become a pediatrician?

I'm currently in high school and I've wanted to become a pediatrician since about 5th grade. Are there any steps I should take to prepare?

The responses you have received are fabulous! Look at skills that will help with your "stepping stones' towards working in the healthcare field with children. Volunteering with children like Special Olympics https://www.specialolympics.org/get-involved/volunteer or babysitting jobs. Taking a CPR course will add to your skill set as well. Good Luck

Kellie’s Answer

Take the most challenging science and math courses you can in high school. This will help you prepare for the tough courses you will need to take in college to even apply to medical school. Find opportunities to work with children. You will learn how to better communicate with this age group. Go to a college or university that will provide you with great counselors to help you apply to medical school which is very competitive. Study very hard from day 1 when in college. Show that you are dedicated, smart, and caring.
