Which companies would hire commercial divers?
I know that building and construction has uses for divers, but it might also be a security type job? #construction #security #career

These types of companies would hire a skilled commercial diver:
1.) Salvage companies: A salvage company recovers property which has been wrecked or sunk or destroyed. For example, when a car crashes on the highway and the damage is too bad for it to be driven, a tow truck is used to remove the car from the highway. If the car cannot be repaired the car owner can give the car to a salvage company. The salvage company will remove any valuable parts from the wrecked car and sell those parts. Salvage companies are also called junk yards. A wrecked car may still have parts that can be used in other vehicles (i.e., engines, seats, tires, etc.).
Now let's change the crash and say the wrecked car went off a bridge into a river or pond. If the water is really deep, a commercial diver is used to help locate and remove the wrecked car from the water.
Now let's say the wreck is a sunken boat, or submarine, or cruise ship. Commercial divers will be needed to examine the ship and help remove it from the water. Salvage divers can also be "decontructionists." To deconstruct is the opposite of construction. When a large ship is wrecked, or a plane crashes in the water, or an oil goes out of service, divers are used to dis-assemble the object.
Divers use special equipment (torches, wrenches, hammers, etc) to take the object apart, piece by piece, section by section. This is a dangerous job and requires lots of courage, training, skill, patience and energy.
2.) Police. Police are called to search for persons and property under water. If a boat flips over or sinks in deep water, a commercial diver is needed to locate and recover the missing persons and property. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has a team of divers who search for clues in deep water. The divers could be searching for dead people, vehicles, weapons used in crimes, and other items.
3.) Tourism. Commercial divers can be used to help a company which offers underwater activities to visitors. For example, a company in the Caribbean may offer visitors an opportunity to visit a shipwreck. Some of these shipwrecks have been under water for hundreds of years. A diver is used to show the visitors how to prepare for the dive, how to use the equipment, and goes with the visitors when they visit the shipwreck.
4.) Training. A commercial diver can teach others how to become a diver. I have a friend who traveled to Jamaica to learn how to become a deep sea diver. The training was part fun and part education.
