Like many other officers, I chose this profession to stand up for people who cannot stand up for themselves. Protecting and serving is an honor. In addition, you are able to use many different skill sets and no two days are the same. The job is stable and secure, and there is usually a number of different positions to strive for. I joined the police department because I enjoy helping others and meet new people. There are times when you are active and constantly responding to calls but that makes time fly. The department I joined is a very large department so there is plenty of opportunity to move into different areas. But with the way politics are today, I would not do it again.
