What does a typical day in the life of a Pediatrician look like?

I'm interested in learning more about the job of a pediatrician.

Thank you comment icon As an engineer, but father of two toddlers, evaluate beyond the child, but the entire family as part of the problem and also as part of the solution. A healthy family provides the favorable environment for the well development of the kid. Diego Martos

The typical day in the life of a pediatrician is busy from Light medium to advance depending on how sick the child is and then they will have the momma busy.
You come in the pediatricians aides take your weight and most of the time they ask why have you scheduled the appointment ,
and the aides direct you to the back room where sometimes we’ll put on a gown or keep on clothes , then wait for the doctor for about 20 mins to come in . they come in listen to your heart , check your tongue ears and eyes sometimes knees .
And talk to you about updates shots , I’d your child is sick there will be conversations about that and of course medicine . Which will be prescribed to the parents at which ever drug store they want . Then the doctor typed ends the convo with closing information type up discharge papers and then the end .

The type of day usually depends on the type of setting you are practicing as a pediatrician. If you are in academic institutions it will be different than what I’m describing right now. The usual or typical day for a pediatrician who is doing a private practice as a pediatrician usually starts with early morning rounds in the hospital to see newborn babies who are born overnight and if Pediatrician have enough time to see pediatric patients in the hospital who admitted in pediatric ward. Then normally pediatrician goes to the clinic he is practicing at And sees pediatric patients Between ages of 0 to 21 with multiple different conditions which patients present with. The common conditions we come across are usually well child care visits for different age groups, sick visits, follow up visits with some procedures. Usually an average of 2 to 4 patients per hour. Then a At lunchtime between 12 and one after a quick lunch if there’s a time pediatrician goes to hospital to see newborns at lunchtime also. Usually day work is complete by 5-6 pm. And then at night if you are on call you take called from hospital and patients. Sometimes you have to go to hospital at middle of night if baby or child is sick. So you can see it is usually a busy day. But it is worth as long as you love to take care of kids.
