I want to finish highschool with a basic understanding in programming. I also want to have many opportunities for college when I finish highschool.

There are several free online courses you can enroll in to obtain programming skills. In addition to the good resources you received from others' responses to your question, try to check the below resources:

2. edX

In addition, several universities offer free online courses such as:

1. MIT OpenCourseWare | Free Online Course Materials
2. Coursera: Python for Everybody Specialization, offered by the University of Michigan

Hey Alan, there are plenty of resources online with YouTube being the top in my mind to learn a lot about programming and related concepts and
best of all it's all for free! I would suggest look into the different areas such as frontend, backend, devops and machine learning to get a good feel for all the different areas.
