David’s Answer

The Elements of Style by Strunk and White. It is not a definitive but merely a useful tool to keep at hand.
Read in all genres. Don't limit your reading to popular authors of today but read across decades, centuries.

The two most useful tools you need you have had all along. Your eyes and ears. Observe and listen. Really listen to not just what is said but how it is said and by whom. Watch how people move. Large and small movements can tell you as much about what is being said as they can about what is not being said. The latter may be more important than the former.

Write something every day. It doesn't have to be good. One poorly written paragraph is one paragraph more than nothing.

You have hash-tagged journalism. I'm curious why you have as journalism is not a creative form of writing. Journalism is a fact and observation based style.

Mario D.’s Answer

Books on story structure. Books on creative writing. Books on grammar. And keep in mind to study rhetorical devices. Make sure you study as many as you can. Your writing will triple in quality.
