Hi Mustafa,

Don't worry you are not alone! Choosing a major can be extremely difficult. As an incoming freshman it is not unusual to be undecided. In your freshman year everyone is required to take the same general education classes so you will not be behind if you take this route.

College is about finding what you are passionate about, so take electives that align with your interests. Most schools do not require you to define a major until sophomore year, so take this time to explore your options.

Also spend time on the school's majors webpage. From here you can read a little bit more about the different programs they offer. If you see something that sticks out from the others, try majoring in that to start. If it turns out to not be for you its not impossible to change your major after you have started school.

Hope this information helps :)

Hey Mustafa!

If you're struggling to figure out what major you want to choose, you can always go in undecided! As the other commenter mentioned, it's normal that students walk into college undecided. College gives you the chance to explore what you like and don't like, and usually you know what you want to do when you feel it. You still have some time to decide what you want to do.

Some things I asked myself when considering my major:

- What are my strengths? What are my weaknesses?
- Does this job interest me? Does it spark my curiosity?
- Do I want a job where I am always on my feet or sitting is okay too?
- Do I want a job where I am collaborating with others or flying solo?
- How is the job market for this major? Is it easy to find a job or are there no jobs?
- What minors can I take up that make me a better candidate for this major? Does the minor interest me?
- How is the pay? Is the average pay something I am willing to take?
- What are the higher positioned jobs for this major? What are the entry-level jobs?

Hope my questions helped :)
