What are good resources for finding field-related internships?

I would like to volunteer or intern in a position that is related to my intended major. Are there any good resources for finding positions like this suitable for high school seniors?

Hi Bianca,

Networking with your professors is always a good place to start. They will have insight on where you can internship or may know a colleague that can help. Also, talk with your school counselor or your specific major's program representatives to see if they have any internal postings or know of any internships you could apply for. You can always look at your local/state government internship postings as well.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

I would echo Tricia in saying that student counselors and teachers are good resources for high schoolers seeking experiences related to their intended major. In terms of online tools, some of my favorites are as follows:

-VolunteerMatch - https://www.volunteermatch.org/
-Internships.com - http://www.internships.com/intern
-Other job boards that can be reduced to internships only using search words or filters: LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Indeed, SimplyHired, Google Careers (https://careers.google.com/jobs), AngelList

I'd also recommend connecting with members of a professional association related to your career, which can be searched for using Google.
