What can I do this summer (summer before senior year) to improve my college applications?

Hello! This summer will be my last summer in high school. This fall, I'll be applying to colleges. I was wondering what things I could do this summer to improve my applications. I'm signing up to volunteer at my local hospital however, I found out it's lottery-based, not skill-based, so I am not sure if I'll get the spot. I am also going to retake the SAT this August, I wanted to take the ACT, however, I am not too sure. I also plan to tutor young kids in my community. I feel like I am not doing enough and that my peers are way ahead of me. I plan for my major to be public/community health, so it would be better if I did things in relation to that. Please let me know of some other things I could do to improve my college apps!!! Thank you :)

What's one thing that you wish you knew before you started college?

I'm currently a high school senior and I'll be a freshman in college this Fall 2025! I've been trying to get advice about college to prepare myself, especially since I'll be moving away from home. It can be anything that comes to mind, whether it's academic, personal, social, etc. I'm just curious about what stuck with you most after college, or what was something you had to learn the hard way. Thank you! #Spring25

I'm a senior in High School committed to Miami University as a nursing major; what is the best way to prepare for a future in the healthcare field and keep my passion for it when it gets difficult or overwhelming?

I am incredibly excited to be a nursing student, but my biggest fear is getting burnt out easily. I am used to difficult high school courses, but how will that translate over to college? I also plan on double majoring or minoring in family/child studies, female studies, or neuroscience in order to get a wide range of education. Would that be beneficial or more hurtful to my college experience? Thank you!

How did your experience at college prepare you for your career, and what skills do you use most frequently in your job?

Hello, I'm Zaloni, a high school senior planning to attend Savannah State University. I am majoring in biology this upcoming fall and plan to attend medical school after I graduate. I want to be an anesthesiologist, and I'm curious about how prepared you felt after college. As far as if your expectations lead to your reality. For example, was it easy to find a job after college or an internship during college?

I wanted to know if there’s any certificates I can get or even online or even classes I can take to take it a step further into my career? I also am wanting to go to Baylor university to help me pursue my career, any advice? It would be much appreciated!

HELP! Which is better: UCONN or MCPHS?

I'm currently a high school senior amidst the college application/decision process. As of right now, my top 2 schools include University of Connecticut and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. I understand that both schools are vastly different from one another but there are attributes to each that I admire. Uconn has all the extracurriculars I've been interested in being involved in (fencing club and bollywood fusion dance team) and it is closer to home. MCPHS on the other hand is much smaller and therefor will probably cater better to each student. It's also in a more urban setting. The plan is to go to medical school after my 4 years of undergrad. Although MCPHS is geared towards the healthcare field, I've read many articles that it is ultimately not a good school. I'm just really confused on how to proceed as I want to make the right decision in ensuring my future-in-medicine path. Any advice is helpful! Thank you :)

I have a little over a year until I get my bachelor’s degree in sociology. I think I will take a year or two off to work then go back to school to get a masters. Until then, what kind of job or internship can I look for that studies social science? I would love to do research that helps impact society and government in a positive way.

I don't know what I want to be yet. Will I ever figure it out?

I've had this question burning in the back of my mind since I was in middle school. It seems like everyone around me has it figured out except for me. I know I have an interest in the medical field, but also in the arts and design. I thought I wanted to be a massage therapist until I realized I was doing it for my parents because they wanted me to. I enjoyed the science classes I took, but they were very difficult. It made me wonder if I would be able to handle it. Then I wanted to be a graphic designer, but realized that maybe I'm no creative enough. I'm headed to college in less than seven months and I still have no idea what I want to major in. #college-advice #medicine-practice #senioryear #medicine #fine-arts
