How can I get my scholarship?
To have a scholarship do I need to have only A? Do I need to pass all of my classes. What can I do to make sure that I have a scholarship.?

You might consider looking for scholarships with the university or college foundation office.
Colleges have foundations that manage private donations and student scholarships. They usually have a variety to choose from and apply for.

Hello, that’s a great question as many people make this assumption! Academic scholarships are the most common but there are definitely several other types of scholarships that are not grade related. Federal, local, school based, community based, identity based, sports and other activities based, situation based and special interests and circumstance based scholarships. The easiest place to start is your school guidance office as they obtain maintain lists of scholarships, especially local, and are familiar with the application process. If you know what college you want to attend, contact their financial aid department to find out what school scholarships are available.
If a scholarship requires an essay, make it as personal as you can, in most cases they really want to get to know you! Have a teacher, counselor or parent read your essay to help edit.
Start applying before your senior year, when allowed. Pay close attention to deadlines and requirements. Be as thorough as possible. The more scholarships you apply for, the greater your chances of receiving, so be sure to apply often!

There are a lot of different ways to earn scholarships, as there are many different types of scholarships! Having a high grade point average (GPA) is one of those ways. Many colleges will award scholarships to students based on their previous academic performance. There can be different tiers of academic scholarships, so you don't need to have just straight A's. You can have a range of grades from your classes, as that GPA is what most colleges will be looking at.
Some schools also offer athletic and extracurricular scholarships to have you play on a sports team as a student-athlete or participate in an organization at they institution.
The best way to research scholarships is to go to the website of the school that you're interested in and find their financial aid/scholarships tab. They may have their scholarships listed for you to look at and apply to. Don't be afraid to call or email the financial aid department of that college to ask for additional information and advice on scholarships - their job is to answer your questions!

Scholarship committees are not always looking at the highest grades or if a student has all As throughout his or her high school journey. They are looking for a well-rounded students to be awarded the scholarships offered. There are various scholarships to apply for when a student is starting the college application process.
When reviewing colleges and universities, it is best to check the following:
- In-State vs Out of State Tuition
- Internships
- Scholarships
- Career Placement upon graduation
- Course work and offered classes
- Post-Graduate Degrees - Master and Doctoral
Scholarship applications can start to be submitted during your Junior year and will continue throughout your Senior year in high school. It is best to ask your Academic Advisor/School Counselor on the timeline process as well. Scholarship applications will have specific deadlines and requirements to meet in order to be submitted for review and consideration.
You may want to start to compile your resume/portfolio since a majority of scholarship applications will require academic grade point average (GPA), academic accomplishments, school activities (clubs, sports, etc.), community involvement (volunteer, church, etc.), academic and personal recommendations, etc. There may be essay requirements on why you are a qualified candidate to receive the scholarship, what your future goals are academically and professionally and other questions centering around who you are, your beliefs, etc.
