Thank you comment icon Do a search for "GDC 2023 State of the Game Industry" and download the report they have. It's a great report on the game industry. You can also search for job listings on studio's website in WA, CA, and NY since now they have to list the salaries for the jobs they're posting. But I didn't get into the industry for the money. I got in because I love making games. 18+ years of making games and I still love it. I don't feel like I'm working when I goto work and I look forward to going back to work the next day. Do what makes you happy. And at the same time, you do have to standup for yourself and make sure you are not being taking advantage of when you are new to the industry. While loving your job is important, you need to know your worth and demand what you deserve. The game industry is not stable... there are layoffs all the time. Studios close with almost no notice leaving people looking for new work. It's happened to me 3 times. Rick Kolesar

Hello Daniel,

It's absolutely wonderful to see your enthusiasm for pursuing a career in Graphic Design or Video Game Design.

The earnings of a graphic designer can fluctuate based on factors like location, experience, and more. As per data from Salary.com, the yearly average income for a graphic designer in the United States is around $53,461 as of September 25, 2023. On the other hand, Indeed.com suggests that the yearly average income for a graphic designer in the United States is approximately $47,666. The typical hourly pay for a graphic designer in the United States is about $21.39.

Remember, these figures are just averages, and the actual earnings of a graphic designer can differ based on a variety of elements.

I trust this information will be beneficial to you!

As an instructional designer with a heavy emphasis on graphic design work, I make more than $1,000 per week. A lot of your salary comes down to how much experience you have when they hire you and the salary range that the company has already set for that position. If you have the experience and qualifications they are asking for, they will offer you a salary within the range they've already set. You can negotiate, but ultimately it's up to them. In my very first job, about ten years ago, I made around $400 a week. It all depends on the industry, the company, your experience, and skills, where you live, etc .

You can also look at job postings on sites like indeed.com to see the salary range being offered. Divide the salary by 12 to find out how much you would make each month. Divide that number by 4 to see how much money you would make per week.

I hope this gives you some context for thinking about how much you might get paid. Best of luck to you , Daniel!
