Is there anyway to get into art school without prior experience ?

Hey Ember,
It's completely okay to go into art school without prior experience. After all, you're going to the school to learn. All you need is passion and hard work and a growth mindset. Take your time and learn anything you're interested in. While you'll learn a lot in art school, there's a lot that you can start to learn before you even start attending school. There are tons of topics you can begin to learn about, for instance, drawing, painting, photography, color theory, print making, sculpture, etc.
I suggest that you pick a topic you're interested in and search for a 'beginner-friendly' tutorial on YouTube and I'm sure you'll find plenty of lessons. The most accessible and most fundamental form of art is drawing and a pencil and a piece of paper is all you need to get started. Start drawing and you'll learn by just doing it, don't wait up to learn how to draw! Learn by doing it, it's more fun! :)

While I did not end up pursuing art as a career, I was very much interested in it in my youth and remain creative still today.
Probably the most important thing to do to get into art school, assuming you want to be an artist, is start working on a portfolio (a collection of your artistic works). I would recommend a wide variety of medium; everything doesn't have to be amazing; it just needs to be enough to show your artistic flare, your passion for creativity, and your general capabilities.

Definitely! Remember, many students in the school are in the same boat as you, without any prior experience. But don't let this deter you from pursuing your dreams at any art school. As long as you can express your genuine passion for the subject, lack of experience won't be a barrier. Besides, being surrounded by others who share your enthusiasm will soon feel like gaining experience in itself. So, go ahead and chase your dreams!
