Teresa’s Answer

Some dental hygiene programs offer an 18-month curriculum, while the typical duration for most programs is around 2 years. In contrast, the path to becoming a dentist entails 4 years of undergraduate studies followed by 4 years of dental school, though some dental school programs offer a shorter duration of 3 years.

Steven’s Answer

To become licensed as a dentist, you need to have graduated college with a bachelor's degree including certain requirements. Dental schools are generally 4-year courses of study after that. In addition, some states require a PGY1 (postgraduate year) training, generally a dental residency unless specializing, which requires 2-4 additional years.
The regulations vary by state, so you'd have to check with the state you intend to practice in to determine the exact requirements.

Hello Asiyah!

Embarking on the journey to become a dental hygienist is an exciting adventure! It typically involves completing an accredited dental hygiene program and securing a license. While the specifics may vary, most of these programs require at least an associate degree as a foundation.

Beyond the completion of your dental hygiene program, you'll need to conquer a written test and a clinical test to earn your license. This is your chance to shine and show what you've learned!

The duration of a dental hygiene program can differ based on the program itself and whether you choose to attend on a full-time or part-time basis. However, the majority of programs are designed to be completed in about two years.

I believe in your ability to succeed in this endeavor! Remember, every step you take is bringing you closer to your dream. I hope you find this information helpful and inspiring!

Mahi’s Answer

For dentistry, 4 years undergraduate schooling or obtaining a bachelor's degree then 4 years of dental school. In addition, you could complete a master's in between or do a residency program post-dental school. Some schools offer a straight conditional pre-acceptance bs/dmd program.

Vidhi’s Answer

Dental Hygienist is typically 2-4 years of studying which will give you license to practice.

For Dental School you'll have to do undergraduate bachelors degree for 4 years and appear for DAT and get into Dental School which is another 4 years. Now here I would like to mention that getting into dental school is extremely competitive and your application needs to stand out and have high tuition but loans are available for it. So it would typically take 8 years to become a dentist and also addition to this there are masters in the field of dentistry also available like orthodontics, pedodontics that takes again 2-3 years depending on the schools.

So choose wisely and do what inspires you!
