Elizabeth’s Answer

Within the field of interior design or anything relating to aesthetics, it's critical to stay up on trends and fabrics and to have a strong sourcing network. Being relevant and on-brand are major keys to success.
Education and or mentorship will be valuable in building your skills and network.
Once you are ready to launch, investing in high-quality photos is critical. Capturing a room or an item with incredible light and placement allows customers to visualize how it would apply in their own space.
Client relationships are where deals are won. Knowing them, their personal aesthetic, and translating that into your offering will allow you to build up a trusted clientele.

Everett’s Answer

To succeed as an Interior Designer, here's some pointers:
COLLABORATE: Know that you can't do it all by yourself. You don't have to be the best at everything... so long as you have a passion for design and your project, through creative collaboration you'll always succeed! No one can 'do it all', so relax, and be yourself!
TECH: Try and get a solid foundation in a drafting program (ie. AutoCad or Revit) so you can present your ideas clearly (and accurately) to your Clients. When you have everything measured 'to the inch' it shows you've really prepared the Project and have thought through lots of options... including knowing you can get that 9' sofa from the delivery truck to it's final resting position in the Client's living room. I'd recommend learning Revit because you'll quickly realize how fast and efficient you can be with creating plans AND 3D images of your plans.
LIFE-LONG LEARNING: You'll ALWAYS be learning as an interior designer. This usually takes the form of getting better at creating presentations and design boards, exploring Markets that sell only 'To the Trade' as you get more familiar with Design Trends and create new Vendor partnerships, and CEU's (continuing education courses) where you can get sneak peeks at the never-ending field of knowledge you can harness to continually evolve as a designer and support your NCIDQ licensure.
ORGANIZATION: Learn how to be 'digitally' organized, you'll always be referring to your: ideas, sketches, Client projects, budgets,

Huilun’s Answer

Interior design is an exciting field that needs a lot of different skills. You get to learn about architecture, materials, color, lighting, and even how people use spaces. It's also about mixing different styles in a creative way. Good communication is super important to understand what clients want and to explain your ideas clearly. Working well with builders, vendors, and other experts helps make projects run smoothly. By always learning, gaining hands-on experience, and working closely with others, designers can create amazing, functional spaces.

Linda’s Answer

First Interior design is a lot of work and there are a great deal of things you need to know about construction and completing a design project from blueprint to realization. You have to be current with product knowledge across the building spectrum. You will have contractors relying on you for job specs and people you will have to conduct, and so much more but there is no more rewarding job when your clients are in tears of joy when you have spun your magic.

Cecília’s Answer

To be successful in the area of interior design you need to understand layout and standard measurements well. From this solid base, it is necessary to always be aware of trends, study color, furniture compositions and adornments, think about carpentry solutions, study lighting, coverings and be aware of sustainable technologies.
It is important to remember that the creative process requires a good repertoire of images, concepts, solutions and design. Consume content from other countries. Brazil, for example, has hyper creative professionals who can bring a new aesthetic and technical perspective.
